We are informed that on Nov.2 HP has pushed new firmware update called 20201021 for those printers using HP CF500 toner cartridge series (CF500/CF510/CF530/CF540) through WiFi and wired network causing the replacement chips to be un-recognised by the corresponding upgraded printer. Updated printer shows an error message on the display as follow:
Some considerations:
1. Printer will not be upgraded automatically. Manual upgrade is required. Please inform customers to don’t accept or do any firmware upgrade of their printer. At present, most of the printers are still equipped with the old firmware version. For consumables in stock, please inform customers to consume them as soon as possible;
2. To reduce the impact of the firmware upgrade, we’ve created a video (Click here to download) showing how to deactivate the automatic updates from the printer control panel. In case customers upgrade the firmware to the new version, they can still downgrade back to the old firmware version called 20200612, so the stock products can still be used.
Cartridges installed into the printer at the time user upgrades the firmware will be affected, but if the firmware will be downgraded, those cartridges can still work fine.
3. Our factory is currently working on the new chip version. We expect to finish the tests by tomorrow.
Old firmware files can be downloaded from this link.
