For the last two years around September 13, a wide range of HP inkjet printers globally have automatically
released an internal update to the printer firmware that has resulted in locking out Cartridge World products
along with your choice to save money, forcing you to buy expensive HP original inkjet cartridges.
Printers that have received the automated update will typically display the below:
As of March 2018, the below listed HP Inkjet printer models have been affected:
OfficeJet 6810, 6820 series, OfficeJet Pro 6830 series, OfficeJet Pro 7740, OfficeJet Pro 8200, OfficeJet Pro 8700, OfficeJet Pro 8710, OfficeJet Pro 8720, OfficeJet Pro 8730, OfficeJet Pro 8610, 8620, 8630, 8640, 8660 series, OfficeJet Pro 8740, and OfficeJet 8210, OfficeJet Pro X451dn/dw, X476dn/dw, X551dw, X576dw, OfficeJet Pro 6230 series.
THE FIX(S): As of September 20 2017, HP has provided two links that will allow you to “roll back” the firmware
version, allowing you to continue saving money by using Cartridge World products.
FIX #1: Go to https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05308850 and follow the steps provided.
If your printer is not listed, it means that HP printers have again internally released a utilities update to more
printer models. In this case, please use fix below:
FIX #2: Enter your printer model here: https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers and search for the available
software. The update you need is in the “firmware” category.
