According to a survey 79 percent of SMBs said that they want to cut back on printing related spending.

SME reported that at least four in five small businesses want to reduce printing expenditure which was revealed in a survey conducted by EBM who noted that the costs related to “printers, toner, paper and other related products”.
52 percent of SMBs did not know their total costs for printing despite wanting to cut back and Mark Bailey, Managing Director, EBM commented: “It’s clearly impossible to manage your printing budget downwards if you don’t have any handle on it in the first place. We absolutely salute any business wanting to reduce its printing costs but the first step in that journey is to assess spend over the last couple of years.”
The survey also looked at what businesses looked for when deciding on a new printer and found that 67 percent said the price was a priority while only 22 percent opted for leasing printers but common factors were quality, reliability and the cost of consumables.
Also noted in the report was the need for more than one printer by 52 percent of the SMBs surveyed and Bailey said: “It came as no surprise that cost was a huge factor for businesses when making the decision to acquire a new print device, but our research demonstrates that many organisations are not putting as much thought into managing the ongoing cost of printing.
“This results in many businesses wasting a huge amount of money, time, and resources, often as a result of them purchasing inefficient devices that become outdated quickly, or having to fork out on repairs or replacement devices when things go wrong.”
