Today, HP printers are designed for particular work environments, from the HP Officejet printer range - purpose-built for the home office and small business - to the Deskjet printers, aimed at the home user with basic printing needs.
A top-of-the-range Deskjet… which has a wireless capability, can print, scan and copy, and provide a top print speed of under 10 pages per minute. The top model can also print directly from online, i.e. without a computer, and can produce two-sided printing automatically.
An Officejet printer… can fit on a desktop and network with two or three users, and individual models have wireless connectivity. The all-in-one models are the fastest printers in the range, printing up to 16 pages per minute in black and white, and 9 ppm in colour.
The Officejet Pro… is designed for a higher volume and quality output, providing access for up 10 users, and printing up to 20 ppm in B/W or 16 pages ppm in colour.
The Officejet Pro X series… are multi-functional printers with wireless, Ethernet and USB capabilities, and according to HP, the world's fastest desktop, printing up to 70 pages per minute.

HP – Brief History
HP was founded by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard in 1939 in Palo Alto, California. Their first product was a device used for testing sound equipment. Many inventions followed over the years, including an atomic clock in 1964, the first Hewlett-Packard computer in 1966, and the first handheld calculator in 1972.
HP released its first thermal inkjet printer, the HP Thinker, as well as the first laser printer, HP LaserJet, in 1984. In 1988, HP produced its first mass-marketed inkjet printer, the HP DeskJet, and by 1993 had shipped ten million laser printers. One year later, HP introduced the world’s first all-in-one device, which could print, fax, and copy.
