Apple uses 3D Printing to build apple watch series 11 and ultra 3.
3D PrintingHere's how:
1. Material & Environmental Benefits
Both the Series 11 titanium models and the Ultra 3 are now 3D-printed using 100% recycled aerospace-grade titanium powder—a feat Apple describes as “not previously considered possible at scale”
This shift to additive manufacturing cuts raw titanium use in half, meaning these watches consume 50% less raw material compared to past generations.
As a result, in 2025 Apple saved over 400 metric tons of raw titanium, advancing its goal toward carbon neutrality by 2030.
2. Manufacturing Process
The process builds the watch case layer by layer using a 3D printer, which contrasts traditional subtractive machining methods that carve excess material from solid blocks.
This additive method granted Apple greater precision and design control, facilitating high standards in durability, finish quality, and lightweight construction across both models.
3. Performance Improvements
Apple reports the polished mirror finish of Series 11 and the rugged, lightweight robustness needed for the Ultra 3 were achieved without compromising aesthetics or toughness.
The 3D-printed cases also enabled enhanced waterproofing, especially around the antenna housing on cellular models.
4. Broader Applications
Apple extended this 3D-printing technique to the USB‐C port enclosure of the new iPhone Air, using the same recycled titanium. This innovation allowed for a slim yet durable port design.
In summary, by 3D-printing recycled titanium components, Apple is significantly reducing material use, enhancing design flexibility, boosting product performance (like waterproofing), and advancing its sustainability objectives—including manufacturing via renewable energy.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Cartridge World Cyprus. Since 2022, we have taken meaningful steps to reduce our environmental impact by offsetting our carbon emissions and achieving carbon-neutral operations, including our own brand of ink and toner cartridges. By promoting remanufactured cartridges, recycling empty consumables, and supporting circular economy practices, we help customers print more responsibly while reducing waste.
Looking ahead, our vision is to build on this progress and strengthen our sustainability efforts through to 2030 and beyond. We are committed to continuously improving our processes, supporting low-carbon solutions, and playing our part in creating a more sustainable future for our business, our customers, and the communities we serve.
