Aksu Wind Farm Project in Turkey
The Yahyalı Wind Farm, situated in Kayseri Province, features 36 wind turbines with a total capacity of 72 MW. This large-scale project harnesses wind power to displace electricity that would otherwise come from fossil-fired plants, leading to an estimated annual reduction of around 118,737 tonnes of CO2e.
Grouped Connect Solar PV Power Generation Project in China
Implemented by China Three Gorges New Energy Corp., this project aims to generate electricity using renewable solar PV energy. Spread across 30 provinces in China, it replaces electricity generated by fossil fuel-fired power plants connected to the national grid. With an estimated annual average reduction of 302,268 tonnes of CO2e, this project significantly contributes to China’s renewable energy transition.
The Safe Water Project in Uganda
In Northern Uganda, the Safe Water Project addresses both environmental and social challenges. By repairing broken boreholes and providing safe water sources to local communities, the project not only eliminates the need for water boiling, saving firewood and preventing carbon emissions but also empowers women who no longer spend hours collecting water from distant unsafe sources. The time saved can now be invested in farm work and skill development, fostering economic growth and sustainable livelihoods.
Reforestation project in Brazil and Kenya
Lastly, Billion-air’s commitment to reforestation takes shape through projects in Brazil and Kenya. In the Amazon rainforest, the project prevents unplanned deforestation by managing the land as a “private conservation reserve.” By employing rigorous monitoring and enforcement measures, over 22 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent greenhouse gas emissions are expected to be avoided over a 40-year period. In Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, the reforestation project restores the water catchment ecosystem function and empowers local communities.
